Airlinx Module helps the food and beverage industry gain confidence in the operation of Sullair Compressors
CUSTOMER OVERVIEW
Food & beverage site in Albury/Wodonga.
IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM
As the site is operational 24 hours a day and 5 days a week, there is significant energy required. Through analysis of the servicing requirements for the compressor systems, Sullair was able to identify substantial power savings by eliminating the inefficiencies of running two compressors.
WHAT WAS SULLAIR’S SOLUTION?
The old compressor system being used at the site included two 90kW compressors running simultaneously. One compressor was constantly loaded 98% of its time whilst the second compressor was unloaded for 90% of its time. Having two 90kW compressors running constantly provides a massive drain on power and therefore Sullair devised a solution. Remtron, the Sullair distributor, investigated their total CFM requirement and found that they could offer a Champion VOCii90VSD, which would have enough capacity to run the plant more efficiently and significantly reduce their energy consumption.
After installation was complete, an AirLinx™ module was supplied to monitor the compressors efficiency performance. The results showed that by using the VOC/VSD compressor, significant power savings had been achieved on the site. We found that the production throughout the day has a larger requirement of air than what is required through the night. The AirLinx™ module has given the customer confidence in the operation of the compressor. The remote monitoring option allows Remtron to provide first class service should a problem occur. When the customer experienced an overheating issue on the compressor, the backup compressor took control. Remtron was then able to respond immediately and fix the issue, before the customer even knew there was a problem. Through installation of the AirLinx™ system, the customer has been able to maximise the power savings on the site. Another beneficial tool that has been generated is access to monthly reports. This provides customers with extensive data and a thorough understanding of how their compressor package is performing. The AirLinx™ system also has an in-built service alarm for timely servicing.
THE END RESULT
The customer received a positive outcome as a result of this upgrade and they now make approximate energy savings of $36,000 per year.
