Last month, many of our staff came together once again for our annual conference. The 2023 Hitachi Global Air Power Australia Conference was held over three days from the 15th to the 17th of May in Melbourne. Team members flew in from branches across Australia to attend, along with some special guest international presenters. It’s always a great opportunity to catch up but also to share ideas and get aligned on our vision for the future.
Welcoming the HIES CEO
We were excited to have honoured guest Yasuhiro (Charlie) Takeuchi, President and CEO of HIES, in attendance at the conference this year. The conference kicked off with recognition and celebration of the 20th anniversary of Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Co., Ltd (HIES). Charlie shared insights with us on how Hitachi Global Air Power Australia will support the HIES vision of digital solutions, innovation, a decarbonised society, and creating a sustainable future. It was great to get a clear picture of the exciting plans and growth in store for the global company.
An action packed agenda
For Day 2, we reconvened once again at the Melbourne Town Hall. We talked through Hitachi Global Air Power’s exciting rebrand, our plans for the coming year, and did a deep dive into Hitachi’s long history.
In addition to Takeuchi, other guest speakers from the One Hitachi family included Ayano Akitomi (Brand Communications and Sustainability Manager at Hitachi Australia), Ann Richardson (Head of External Communications and Marketing at Hitachi Rail), and Stephanie Roberts (Leader of Global Branding and Communications for HIES). The speakers gave engaging presentations, sharing their perspectives and ideas with the group at large. We also had the chance to spend some down time together with a fabulous dinner at Chin Chin and got the competitive spirits fired up with some friendly trivia.
A unified front
For the final day, we spent some time reviewing Hitachi Global Air Power’s roadmap and discussing our always important supply chain. We wrapped up a great few days together with a focus on collaboration, in the form of a fantastic team-building event. Facilitated by Jim Houston, it was designed to foster stronger bonds to work toward a shared vision for the future.
We closed the conference in style that night, with a memorable dinner at the iconic Eureka Skydeck. It was great to celebrate Hitachi Global Air Power’s achievements with the stunning Melbourne city skyline as a backdrop and a refreshed and renewed focus for the future.
